The next meeting of the Mother Lode DX / Contest Club will be on November 22nd (Date change!!), at 11:30AM. The location is The Breakroom in Shingle Springs.

Bob W1RH describes the program for November:

“Most DX’ers and contesters know that the female voice somehow cuts through the QRM, the QRN, and the pileups in a dxpedition or a contest.  Just ask Steve, W1SRD, who has been on the receiving side of many pileups, or Sue, K6SZQ, who has made huge scores in CQP not only with her voice, but also her great operating techniques.

“Well, Tim, N6QE, has created a voice, with the help of artificial intelligence, designed to cut through the noise, and interference, and he calls her “Tina”.  Tim has done this with a LOT of WAV files and, like it or not, Tina really is a good operator, with Tim controlling the WAV files.

“I heard Tim’s presentation in Dayton and just knew it would be a good one for MLDXCC.  It’s also a really good way to learn a bit about contesting because Tim describes all of the files he has built to do the exchange, ask for repeats, etc.  Very typical of what goes on in a contest.  For you computer techie’s, it is quite interesting to hear how he has built the files and optimized the voice.

“In short, this meeting will be educational and also hilarious.  Be sure to save the date!”

(You can probably also count on some great discussion of the recent ARRL Sweepstakes.)
