Minutes of the May 16, 2026 Meeting (Los Pinos Restuarant, Cameron Park)

Meeting was called to order at 12:45 p.m. by President Steve Allred, NC6R. There were 9 attending (sign in sheet).  Steve welcomed everyone. All attending were familiar with each other, so there were no introductions.

New Business:

The treasurer’s report was published in the April newsletter. Motion to Approve the report was made by Dave Sanders, K6TQ, and seconded by Rick Samoian, W6SR. The vote was unanimous.

The secretary’s report was published in the March newsletter. Motion to approve the report was made by Sue Allred, K6SZQ, and seconded by Jason Pritchard, KE5JTS. The vote was unanimous.

Member Achievements:

Jeff Stai, WK6I, met a couple ops making a POTA activation, working stations as far away as Spain.

Jay Harmor, KE6GLA did a split frequency QSO on 20 meters.

Announcements/Discussion:

There was discussion of places to find speakers for the club meetings.

The combined NCCC/MLDXCC will be on June 13th, at 11:30 AM. Location is Peter’s Steakhouse, 203 Second St, Isleton, CA 95641

The restaurant where the combined NCCC/MLDXCC meeting is to be held requires a cover fee if there are too few attendees. A motion was made by Sue Allred, N6SZQ, to cover half of that fee if needed, with NCCC to cover the other half. The motion was seconded by Dave Sanders, K6TQ. The vote was unanimous.

Steve Allred, NC6R, brought up the new amateur radio e-publication “SWR”, which is a monthly provided in Several languages.

Jeff Stai, WK6I, stated that he wishes to publish the next newsletter by Sunday next and asked for contributions.

There was a discussion of antenna alternatives and antenna tuners for Jason Pritchard, K5JTS. The possibility of Jason using a tuner from Jeff’s available unit was mentioned.

The 2027 international DX Convention has been announced. It will be in Visalia tentative date March 12 – 14th 2027.

Motion to adjourn was made by Rich Cutler, WC6H, seconded by Rick Samoian, W6SR. The meeting was adjourned at 13:15 PM.

Jay Harmor KE6GLA gave an enthusiastic and informative presentation of “Parks on the Air”: The website, the activators, the hunters, and the awards that can be earned.
